They say it is becasue they need to check on their equipment to do whatever, but as long as they have $5.00 a month they don't need to check it? I don't get it. With all their technology they can't figure out a way to check their equipment except through the antique phone lines? Wow, I am just floored that they really think that we are that stupid! They do it becasue they can.
When we first moved to this rural town we had no idea that trritory still existed. I first called Direct TV to check on getting hooked up, and to my astonishment, iwas told "that is not our territory", WHAT? I yelled. "Territoy, what are you talking about?" Well, I am sure all of you know the end of that story. If anyone knows a way out of this $5.00 a month crap fee i sure wouldloike to hear about it!

Written by Nate, on 22-06-2009 18:30 I wrote their exec offices, explained to them that their techs said a phone line was not required, and that if this fee was not waived they would be hearing from my CLO (since I'm the CEO of a corporation that carries some weight), and they promptly removed it. Contact their exec offices, sound impressive, and sound like a business person and that'll take care of the issue. Worked for me. |
| 2. Written by fee can be waived, on 13-07-2008 15:59 I forgot what it is called, but you can pay a minimal amount ($20) or so for the year and they will waive the fees for the phone line. It auto renews every year though, but comes out a lot cheaper than paying the fees. Also I believe if you order about 4 movies per month or spend so much in ppv it automatically gets waived for that month. |
| 3. Written by Donnie, on 16-03-2008 21:36 Thats not true. I own both my VIP 622 even though Dishtried to say I leased them. what a mess that was. I dropped them in Nov 07 after 9years. Went with Directv got two HD DVRs no phone fee at all. In Feb 08 got a call from Dish sale rep wanting me to come back I explain why I left and he stated that DISH could now permanently waive that 5.00 no phone fee. I told him I would think about it and to give me a call back in a week. He never did so I called dish myself and low and behold. The fee still applies ecven if you own the equipment. what a dumb a** company. They used to be the best now they are horrible and customer svs is non-exsitence. |
| 4. Written by Rick, on 13-03-2008 22:38 I agree the $5 fee for not having a phone is stupid. That is for when you lease their receivers. If you buy the receivers yourself (eBay, craigslist, etc) then your monthly payment is a little cheaper *and* you don't have to pay that $5 fee. |
