Just the other week we have notice an issue with our recordings. We were watching TV and hit the record button, just to record a show while getting the kids ready for bed. Twenty minutes later, we sat down in the family room and wanted to start the recording from beginning. Sadly to say, the recording was not there. The amount of time which was recorded was 0:00. We also notice other recordings for the children were 0:00 as well.
We contacted dish network, and they said we have a cable issue. We said how can this be a cable issue, when we were just watching TV, and hit the record button. Then they said it was a signal issue, where if you don't have any signal your recordings will not record. So not true. Again we told them we were watching TV, its a clear sky and we lost our recordings. Still they did not understand and we hung up the phone.
Later we called back and since we got an error message of signal loss and wanted to know what was going on. Dish again said it was our cable issue. They had no idea I already took a fluke tester and tested the cable and it was all good all the way to the LNB. We even asked the neighbor to bring over there box and it worked just fine. But yet they continue to say its a cable issue.
After the 3rd time of contacting Dish, we decided to just cancel 17 years of service with them. Since all the channels says signal loss. A manager called us just a few days later and asked why we cancel. We told them, we were told it would cost us $150 for a new receiver plus the cost for a tech to come out. We asked if there was a software upgrade which have been pushed to our receiver. The manager who called us said there was a software upgrade which has been applied to our receiver. I told him so you want us to pay $150 for a software failure which you pushed to our receiver? He said he could give us a discount to our package and no contract.
Thank you dish, for trying to make customers pay for your mistake.
