It's been a while.......but, they didn't charge me for anything and I no LONGER have the internet thru Dish.......

Updated by user May 12, 2015

I no longer see on my bill the amount that DISH was trying to make me pay for "unreturned merchandise". However, when I clicked on to say it has been resolved; it states that once I agree I can not take it back.

So, I am hesitant to say that it has been resolved only for that reason.

I guess I have learned not to trust anyone nor anything today. I am as of today not being charged with that amount and for that I am saying that I hope everything has been resolved.

On 5-21 I called DISH for the 3rd time; talked to Ashley. She informed me that it was the Modem that was missing and not that TRIA.

Called back with tracking info plus I went to the UPS store where I dropped it off. He informed me that the package was delivered 10:19 am on Mar 17th in Spartanburg, SC and there is a signature on file. He also gave me a phone number if I needed further assistance.

It has been 5 weeks and they are still investigating?

I did not pay the total amount of this bill. I am waiting for them to deduct these charges.

It is official. As of 11 am today, I was informed that I would be charged $99.00 for unreturned equipment.

Even though I was told by Lyn, whom I called prior to shipping said equipment back to Dish, not to worry about the lack of knowing exactly what this equipment was and not to worry about the return of this equipment.

She didn't tell me where it was located and how to get to it to return it! Very sorry excuse for Customer Care!!!!

It was the 2nd time I had been informed that Dishnet requested to come to my home to readjust my satellite on my roof. I was perfectly happy with the service I was getting the first time they had requested to point it North or South (I can't remember which way it was pointed the first time).

But, after they had done it the first time things went down hill. So, when they requested to do this a second time! I said enough is enough. I just don't know why they have to come in every couple of years to do this?

So, I did not respond and eventually by Dec 24th they cancelled my Internet. I did not care! But, they asked for their Modem and something called a TRIA back. I called and asked Lyn "What is a TRIA?" She told me not to worry about this TRIA to just send my modem.

Which I did; the same day.

As of yesterday I got a call from Dish stating that I did not return their merchandise and my Credit Card would be charged for non-return of their merchandise. I called Dish to ask "Why?" Randy said it was a preliminary call! A preliminary call "FOR WHAT?" I sent their Modem back! I was in compliance according to Lyn!

Randy could not explain to my satisfactory the reason of this phone call after they had been in receipt of this Modem for a few weeks. I sent it in THEIR BOX on March 12th! I told Randy if Dish wants my cable box which is all I have left; Dish can have that too! But, I will be contacting a lawyer; in which his reply was "There's no need to threaten him!" I know the man doesn't know me from Adam but, I was not threatening anyone!

I just wanted to make it perfectly clear that my rights have been violated by unnecessary phone calls threatening me that I would be charged for merchandise I'm not even sure I have! A TRIA! What is a TRIA? And if they want it and its on my roof "SEND A TECH TO CLIMB UP THERE TO GET IT!" God knows I DO NOT WANT IT!

Of course Randy said I was not charged as of yet; so there was no way he could undo a charge that was not made! But, he would note that I should not be charged if there would be this charge!

LOL This seems like a lack in Customer service! Especially for a $25.00 modem!!!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Dish Network Pros: Fox programming, Glenn beck.

Dish Network Cons: Customer service, Service.

Terrible! I returned all equipment, 2 boxes, on 8/6/17, via UPS, to Dish.

Today, 8/31/17, I receive a notice that I owe them for unreturned equipment.

I tried to call, hoping to resolve this issue, 10 minute wait! NOT!!!!

What I have to laugh about is it switched from Dish to Directv. There is no other Internet in my area right now except Dish and HughesNet.

When I made the switch, the HughesNet tech swapped out the Dish modem and satellite dish for a Hughes set up. They are identical! He clipped the cable leads coming to the modem so that's the way Dish is getting it back. He left the dish lying on the ground in front of my house.

I'm half tempted to take a Sawzall to the end of the *** thing and send it back like that.

As far as the LNBF if they want it, they can come get it. I'm a partially disabled vet and I'm not to inclined to be crawling up on a ladder to get something they put on my home.

I haven't had satellite service in a while, so I could be wrong... but I think the TRIA is the box that is attached to the end of the arm of the dish. I had DirecTV and they didn't ask me to send it back.

The TRIA is the eye at the end of the arm of a Satellite internet dish. The Satellite TV dish is a LNB.

They are serialized and account specific, so Hughesnet and Viasat require their return(with proper exceptions). If DTV is not asking for their return, then they are violating a huge part of their contract with both companies, which is who provides the satellite internet for both Dish and DTV.

TRIA, transmit and receive integrated assembly, part of a two-way satellite dish.

A low-noise block downconverter (or LNB) is the receiving device mounted on satellite dishes used for satellite TV reception, which collects the radio waves from the dish. Also called a low-noise block, LNC (for low-noise converter), or even LND (for low-noise downconverter), the device is sometimes wrongly called an LNA (low-noise amplifier).

If they indeed need this part of their equipment back; then I think that they should come and get it and not expect the customer to do the work for them. When they install it, they don't tell the customer that they have to install the equipment themselves!!!!

Besides I see these vans in my area quite often; so it wouldn't be that hard to swing by and get it!!!

According to the Dish contract, if you do not return the TRIA you will be charged $99. So, no you do not have to return it if you want to pay the penalty.

Per the contract with Dish Network, if you do not return the TRIA, you will be charged $99. So no, you do not have to return it, but you will be charged if you don't.
