A few months ago, I scheduled a technician repair call for Dish Network to upgrade my equipment. I took the day off for this to be done, which means a loss of a day of work at overtime.
The morning of the service call, I received a phone call at 7 am to inform me that they were canceling my service call for the day. No explanation was given, and this interrupted my sleep. I called Dish and talked to the resolution team, and they explained they had a technician quit last week. So, they knew last week they would not be able to honor all the service calls scheduled but waited until the morning of to cancel my service call, which then did not allow me to work that day.
Rescheduled for a Sunday between 1-5, the technician arrived at 4:50.
I told the technician I had another appointment at 6 pm and would be leaving at 5:50 pm. He stated he would be done by then. He was nowhere near being done and was upset that I was making him leave at 5:50 pm.
October 1 - took off work for a scheduled service call. At 4:40 pm, I called Dish to see what was going on because no technician had arrived.
I was told he would arrive at 7 pm. No promised phone call today to be told what was going on. I could have worked today and made overtime if I had known it would be 7 pm.
My biggest complaint is that when you talk to the resolution team, they don't care. I was offered a premium movie as an apology to replace 10 hours of overtime loss.
What an insult!!! I asked to speak to someone who can make a decision regarding reimbursing me for lost wages. She told me that she was the head of the company and there was no one higher I can talk to.
I have been promised approximately 10 returned phone calls from someone in Dish Corporate, and they never happen. On one occasion, I was told that I would not receive a return call because the complaint says they will not return my call since I am a disgruntled customer.
Maybe I wouldn't be a disgruntled customer if they would do what they promise. I want an $800 credit for my wages.
- Dish stand for dumb ignorant service from h
Preferred solution: $800 credit for loss wages because they don't keep promised scheduled service calls

I ordered phones almost 2 months ago. UPS lost them.
I filed a claim with UPS. It was investigated and determined that UPS gave them to someone else.
The claim was paid by UPS to Boost on 7/26/2024. However, I have yet to receive my phones and money has been fraudulently taken out of my account for a product/service that I never received.
Preferred solution: My original order delivered and refunded for funds taken.

Verified ReviewerDISH outages & missing channels
I'm getting very tired of randomly loosing service & having to reset the Joey or the Hopper or whatever their control is.
I'm really getting tired of losing our TV signal. Right now, we cannot get any of our local channels, and it seems to be nationwide.
I believe that, as many times as we have lost the signal in the past six months, we are owed some kind of compensation.
We have been considering changing to DIRECT TV without the satellite for a while, and we are getting closer to doing just that. Very disappointed with DISH.
- Several packages to choose from
- Seem to lose signal quite often
User's recommendation: Consider DIRECT TV w/o satellite

We had interrupted services for the last two months. I was told that when the service was fixed, they would then give a credit.
Needless to say, they only wanted to give us a one-week credit.
However, if we use one month's service, they want to be paid for one month. Therefore, if we don't receive one and a half months of service, we should not have to pay for one and a half months.
- We enjoy it
- Miss treat you take your money you loose service when it snows and storms and expensive
Preferred solution: Credit
User's recommendation: Do not go with dish
Upgrade
Very easy to upgrade. The rep offered to go through what the additional channels would be. Just had installation this past Saturday.

Verified ReviewerI made the mistake of signing a 2 year contract with them . Charged me $ 150.00 to connect me . The Joey doesn’t get all the channels that the Hopper gets even though it’s only one room away.
I'm having trouble with the Hopper. They want $100 to tell me it's not working right.
I rented a movie and never received it, called 3 times and still can't get it. I just thought DirecTV was bad.
My contract is up in 4 months, but I think I would be money ahead to cancel now.
When your average rating is 1.6, that tells you something about your service.
- Over priced
- Customer service is bad
Preferred solution: A partial credit for faulty equipment
User's recommendation: Do not buy

Verified ReviewerDeceptive billing practice
I have been a DISH customer for over 12 years. I have recently been receiving letters and emails asking me to upgrade my old receiver to a Hopper.
I spoke to an agent who recommended the upgrade in view of the age of the old equipment. I agreed to do so as long as there were no additional charges to my monthly account. He offered me a package in which there were no additional charges, and in fact a slight reduction in the monthly bill from around $114 to $108. However, my next monthly bill had risen to $136.47, including new monthly equipment charges (for Hopper and Joey) of $22.00 with an additional prorated charge of $7.50.
An agent today was unable to resolve the issue, other than to generate a 'ticket' for further review. He then tried to sell me additional service!
- Convenience
- Price and customer service - not honoring price agreement
Preferred solution: Refund of Hopper charges ($29.50), and DISH to honor described billing agreement

This is a copy of the letter I sent the corporate office and their CEO last week (2/19). I have heard nothing back.
Before I sent this letter, I spoke with a Ryan Vogler in their Corporate office and two other ladies in Customer Service (I am sorry but I couldnt understand their names due to their heavy accents):
Good morning. I am hoping to reach out to someone that understands what customer service is all about as well as someone that has a little compassion and can understand the economic hardship that retired senior citizens have gone through the last several years.
I have been with Dish for over 5 years. Up until September of 2023, I had not changed one thing with my plan. In September of 2023, I spoke with one of your representatives about packages and we decided that the Americans Top 120+ was the best fit for us since it offer several sports channels.
The increase in the monthly fee was a modest $5 and change. At the time, the Dish representative indicated to me that the monthly price ($126.71) would be locked in for 2 years since I was switching to a new plan. Now let us jump to this week, 6 months later.
On 2/5/24, I received an e-mail notice that my monthly Dish bill was increasing by $10.75 to $137.46. I got on the website and engaged a chat agent.
They reviewed my bill and said that some of the promotions I was receiving were expiring. I asked then why was I told 6 months ago that the price - $126.71 - was locked for 2 years. I never got an explanation and the chat was nowhere. I then wrote a letter to the corporate office and on 2/15/24, a Ryan Vogler for the corporate office called.
Mr. Vogler reviewed my letter and indicated to me that the reason my monthly rate was increasing was that 3 of the promotions were expiring. He then indicated that the $137.46 monthly rate was only a partial increase and that my new monthly rate would go over $152.00 in March. Ryan and I discussed this for quite some time and I never got an answer to the one question that bothers me why was I told in September of 2023 that my rate of $126.71 would be locked in for 2 years.
Ryan indicated that he did not have any way of changing my rate or offering any promotions and indicated that I might call Customer Service.
After getting off the phone with Mr. Vogler, I called Customer Service. I am sorry, I did not catch the young ladys name due to her strong accent. I again went over the events that had transpired and asked her to see if there was any ways or promotions to help lower my bill, which now had ballooned to over $152.
She then dropped the bombshell. She indicated that the bill in actuality was going to be over $162. I about fainted. She tried to explain that a $25.00 promotion (not sure what that was) was dropping off as well as my promotion for eBill and Autopay.
I questioned as to why these promotions were dropping off since I was not cancelling eBill and Autopay. I did not get an answer except for her saying they are dropping off. And the big question - why was I told in September of 2023 that my rate of $126.71 would be locked in for 2 years, never got answered. Needless to say, I did not sleep well last night contemplating what I needed to do to avoid a 22% / over $35.00 a month increase to my satellite bill.
In closing I want you to understand our situation.
I am 66 retired and disabled. We are living on my social security benefit of $2,705.00 per month for a family of 3. I feel you should honor your 2-year price freeze commitment through September of 2025 as I can not afford an increase of over $35.00 per month.
I have very few interests anymore and watching tv and sports is one of them. But unless something can be done to decrease this absurd increase, I will have to make changes.
User's recommendation: Avoid
Billing
since May my bill has gone up $40 they said they could bring it down by $25. I told them I might cancel the whole thing.

A website called “pissedconsumer.com” doesn’t really show very much about the rating. The $100(its $95 technically) would be to come work on your equipment(you own everything except the receivers).
Important question, which channels are you not getting on the Joey that you are on the Hopper. If it is one of the 4K channels, that makes sense.
