Poor problem resolution

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had to call multiple times for the same reason of faulty equipment and even had svc out. They refuse to replace my receiver which we have had for 7 yrs and keep having technical problems with it. The bill keeps going up and programming keeps going down hill. And all you get is the run around and pushed to agree to another contract.

Depending on the issue, replacing equipment is entirely possible. What do you mean by faulty equipment? What are you experiencing specifically.

Unhappy consumer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is a copy of the letter I sent the corporate office and their CEO last week (2/19). I have heard nothing back.

Before I sent this letter, I spoke with a Ryan Vogler in their Corporate office and two other ladies in Customer Service (I am sorry but I couldnt understand their names due to their heavy accents):

Good morning. I am hoping to reach out to someone that understands what customer service is all about as well as someone that has a little compassion and can understand the economic hardship that retired senior citizens have gone through the last several years.

I have been with Dish for over 5 years. Up until September of 2023, I had not changed one thing with my plan. In September of 2023, I spoke with one of your representatives about packages and we decided that the Americans Top 120+ was the best fit for us since it offer several sports channels.

The increase in the monthly fee was a modest $5 and change. At the time, the Dish representative indicated to me that the monthly price ($126.71) would be locked in for 2 years since I was switching to a new plan. Now let us jump to this week, 6 months later.

On 2/5/24, I received an e-mail notice that my monthly Dish bill was increasing by $10.75 to $137.46. I got on the website and engaged a chat agent.

They reviewed my bill and said that some of the promotions I was receiving were expiring. I asked then why was I told 6 months ago that the price - $126.71 - was locked for 2 years. I never got an explanation and the chat was nowhere. I then wrote a letter to the corporate office and on 2/15/24, a Ryan Vogler for the corporate office called.

Mr. Vogler reviewed my letter and indicated to me that the reason my monthly rate was increasing was that 3 of the promotions were expiring. He then indicated that the $137.46 monthly rate was only a partial increase and that my new monthly rate would go over $152.00 in March. Ryan and I discussed this for quite some time and I never got an answer to the one question that bothers me why was I told in September of 2023 that my rate of $126.71 would be locked in for 2 years.

Ryan indicated that he did not have any way of changing my rate or offering any promotions and indicated that I might call Customer Service.

After getting off the phone with Mr. Vogler, I called Customer Service. I am sorry, I did not catch the young ladys name due to her strong accent. I again went over the events that had transpired and asked her to see if there was any ways or promotions to help lower my bill, which now had ballooned to over $152.

She then dropped the bombshell. She indicated that the bill in actuality was going to be over $162. I about fainted. She tried to explain that a $25.00 promotion (not sure what that was) was dropping off as well as my promotion for eBill and Autopay.

I questioned as to why these promotions were dropping off since I was not cancelling eBill and Autopay. I did not get an answer except for her saying they are dropping off. And the big question - why was I told in September of 2023 that my rate of $126.71 would be locked in for 2 years, never got answered. Needless to say, I did not sleep well last night contemplating what I needed to do to avoid a 22% / over $35.00 a month increase to my satellite bill.

In closing I want you to understand our situation.

I am 66 retired and disabled. We are living on my social security benefit of $2,705.00 per month for a family of 3. I feel you should honor your 2-year price freeze commitment through September of 2025 as I can not afford an increase of over $35.00 per month.

I have very few interests anymore and watching tv and sports is one of them. But unless something can be done to decrease this absurd increase, I will have to make changes.

You’re going to have to make changes. And you’re not likely to get a response, except from Ryan again. He is a member of the Office of the President.

No refund available

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I signed up for dish service on January 22,2024. I was on the phone with 5 different customer service reps for 2 days trying to get my satellite working.

After talking with these different reps, and not getting my service working, I found that my Playmaker portable satellite was broken. During my move it must have been dropped and it rattled if it was moved quickly. I didnt know at the time it didnt work but none of the reps could get the Wally to respond to the satellite. After I could not get my service connected, I called Dish customer service again to see about getting a refund for what I paid to get the service activated.

I was told by the customer service representative that I was talking to, that they could not give me a refund. With the portable dish and pay as you go (month to month) there was no option available for a refund. I asked the representative who I needed to talk to about getting my money back since I never used the service. I was told that he was the highest level of response to my getting a refund and was told there will be no refund available.

I told the rep that I would be making this custom review because they were actually keeping money that was paid to them for the service that couldnt be used. At this time, I do not have the money to go buy another $300 portable satellite dish. I believe Dish is actually ripping me off.

If I could not use their service my activation fee should have been refunded. I will tell everyone I know and everyone I talk to not to go with Dish!!!

Dish makes the most money when you pay a monthly fee for their equipment and your programming is under one of their one or two year contracts. That’s fine.

You decided you would buy your own equipment and not have a contract but a pay-as-you-go plan. That is also fine. What is not fine is you expecting the perks that are free for the first scenario. Phone, internet or tv always offer to waive the activation fee if you pay monthly for their equipment and sign a one or two year contract.

The fact that your equipment is broken is your problem.

If you were scenario 1, an agent would show up and replace at no charge. By owning your own equipment you are responsible for it working and replacing it if needed.

Horrible Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Sent back equipment before they shut of my subscription and they continued to bill. Plus billed me for returned equipment which they requested even after they sent a email saying they received my equipment. They do not know what they are doing. Called multiple times and now they sent me to collections for equipment that they said I have returned. Said they would fix all this on my last call but they have said this since November. No trust in this company. I suggest you buy local.

Resolved: Was suppose to receive a promo gc for switching and never received it.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Feb 03, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Dish called me to apologize for the situation and the gift card for 300 that I was told was part of the switch agreement was not able to be issued but instead would be applied to my account as a credit instead.

So I won't have to worry about a bill for 2 months. So I'm satisfied with the solution.

Original review Jan 02, 2024
In November, a door to door agent came to my house to switch from direct tv to dish. I listened to everything he had to say.

He also said you were in a promotion for me to receive $300 or $500 gc to switch from direct tv. I don't quite remember but I thought it was $500. He joked that dish was basically paying me to switch and I was elated to qualify for it saying I could use it for Christmas. I never received the gc.

I just contacted customer service who was no help. All she said was to go online to my account to check my status. I went there and no gc could be found. I feel like you all lied to your customers just to get them to switch.

She wasn't able to look at anything but was sure ready to offer a promotion you were having. Can someone please check on this regarding my account and timeframe of switch to receive my promo gc.

Dish does not have any door to door salesmen. That would be an independent third party retailer that sets their own rules and offers their own marketing, such as gift cards. Find out which retailer sold you service, and contact them.

Horrible customer service and billing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Canceled service after they messed up my billing for three months in a row. Told me each time it would be fixed and never followed through. It has been six months without the service and they are still trying to charge us for service they never provided and service we havent had for over three months. They were good compared to direct tv about 20 years ago. Would not go back to dish in a million years. Horrible company.

Don’t Do Dish

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Would definitely give 0 stars if it was an option. Went into a contract with them with the promise of a $400 rewards card.

I was never provided with the correct information to redeem itcalled many times and was repeatedly told that I would receive it. Finally found out after a year of trying to get it, that it was not redeemable after 3 months. I informed them that I had never been given the info to redeem, and it didn't matter to them. Canceled the contract due to them not providing what I was promised going into the contract.

They waived the cancellation fee, and I still got a bill. When I called about it, the person I spoke with said the waived fee wasn't noted and that there was no way to cancel it. Insisted she was the highest up I could talk to and wouldn't transfer me to speak with anyone else. In my opinion, Dish Network is operating on a fraudulent basis.

If a contract is made with the promise of an exchange, it should be fulfilled. And a verbal waiver is as valid as a written one. Dish is all about the money, money, money.they have no regards for their customers. They are definitely overpriced, their service was faulty and their customer service is poor.

My family and friends have all cancelled service with them, will never be back, and will never recommend them to anyone. Dont Do Dish!

A verbal agreement means nothing in light of a written agreement. Everything you’re disputing could have easily been looked into ahead of time, by going to the website.

If you want to look at it that way, my consent was never written on the contract. I gave verbal consent and it was to the information provided on the phone at the time of contract.

Remember the tablet the tech had you sign, saying “this is to show the work was completed”?

Being fined to cut service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We are canceling our service with Dish, we and In order to do this, we are being fined $260. After paying $75 a month to rent their equipment and $100 for service, being fine to cut the service is outrageous. The service is expensive and is not reliable, we had far too many interruptions and loss of signal to justify paying this amount of money for this high priced service.

Are you calling an early termination fee a fine? That’s a simple charge. While in a commitment, you cancel early, you get hit with an early cancellation fee.

I'm very dissatisfied with costermer service. Unless I see that card, I will not recommend anyone to go to dish
